Dr. Gino Segre
Professor of Physics and Astronomy, University of Pennsylvania
Noted physicist and writer on science Dr. Gino Segre will present the Misher Visiting Professor of the Humanities lecture. Dr. Segre will discuss his recent and well-received book, "Faust in Copenhagen: A Struggle for the Soul of Physics." Reception to follow.
Dr. Segre is a professor of physics and astronomy at University of Pennsylvania. Publishers' Weekly has said that “Segrè applies a human scale to important physics topics in a way that's as informative and accessible as it is appealing.” His book "Faust in Copenhagen: A Struggle for the Soul of Physics" (Viking Press 2007) takes a look at look at the landmark 1932 gathering of the biggest names in physics. He is also the author of "A Matter of Degrees: What Temperature reveals about the Past and Future of our Species, Planet and Universe" (Viking Press 2002).
